Reviews

Needs a Few Design Tweaks

"It’s a really good product that eliminates the need for bottled water. I wish it had more ergonomic features, like being smaller at the base to fit better in cup holders, a locking mechanism to prevent the cap from twisting off over time, and a water bottle sling or a full silicone cover to prevent dents and paint chipping."

LifeStraw 1 L

"I am quite satisfied with this water bottle. It works as expected, feels high quality, and is easy to use and clean. The water tastes great from it as well. Will recommend"

Jordan R. (5/5)

Great water bottle!

"Love this and the fact it’s filtered! It’s a good size bottle and fits in cup holders well. But three things I’m not the biggest fan of: since the filter is so large, it’s less than 24oz since you can’t drink anything after it’s lower than the bottom of the filter. Second thing is the cap and handle. I love that you can take the nozzle you drink from off for cleaning but if you’re holding the bottle from the handle, it loosens and has actually detached while I was holding it. It would be so much better if the lid was separate from the handle! Third thing is the water pressure. I have the lid closed while it sits overnight and in the morning, most times when I take off the lid water comes spewing out and I have to drink it fast to prevent it from spilling everywhere. Maybe make a lid with a small hole for the pressure to be released while it’s sitting out? But overall I love this and use it at the gym and anytime I travel!"

Solid on the go bottle

"Solid water bottle that fits in my car cup holder. Due to the size of the filter displacing the water there is less water in the bottle than I initially thought. I will probably eventually get a bigger lifestraw bottle."

So perfect HAD to repurchase (got mine stolen LOL)

"Love the durability (and have dropped it pretty often, with only a dent and a few scratches as evidence), and the handle made it easy to carry around. I'm trying to reduce my PFA and microplastic consumption, since I saw on the news that "forever chemicals" can be found in our waterways here in Canada, and using a lifestraw product to filter my water gives me a bit of peace of mind in that sense. Unfortunately I lost mine recently at the dog park, and have had no luck getting it back. After 3 months of using glass bottles, I eventually caved and am now repurchasing (yay!). Mostly for convenience sake as being crunchy is both a privilege and a whole lotta work. LOVE MY LIFESTRAW WATERBOTTLE THO!!! 😭💗‼️"

Feng Y. (5/5)

It works!

"I bought the Go Series bottles for myself and two of my teenage children to use during a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. I was honestly afraid to trust it at first, but when bottled water ran short, I filled my bottle in a bathroom sink and had to trust it to do its job. I used it 4 more days from various taps without any issues. We drink a lot of water, so it was a lifesaver to be able to have accessible clean water no matter where we were."

Renee S. (5/5)

Perfectly imperfect

"As someone who is a student always I would be remised if I did not offer some opportunity for improvement. That being said, I would like to provide my thought on improving the lid of this product. It could be made out of metal instead of plastic. And the lid for the mouth piece could also be improved to be something like the flip top covers that some other companies use. Other then that. This bottle is amazing. I am currently drinking out of it as I am writing this review. Thank you and I look forward to some type of lid / cap improvement in the future!! DRINK ON!"

Future Use

"Hi! I bought the LifeStraw Go Series Stainless Steel water bottle for an upcoming trip. After having stomach problems on a previous trip, I decided I did not want to worry about stomach problems again. I love the look and weight of this water bottle. Looking forward to my upcoming vacation with No stomach issues!!"

Great Water Bottle

"Worked great on my last trip. No need to purchase water bottles and the filtration makes the water taste great! Great size for me, not too heavy or bulky."

Q&A

I’m shopping for a glass water bottle. Any chance Life Straw is considering making glass bottles 🤞
Thank you for your question. While we are always exploring new ideas and opportunities, we currently do not have plans to release a glass water bottle.
I used a lifestraw water bottle 2 years ago up in boundary waters for a week. Loved it. Brought it home, rinsed and dried it out. Heading up to a week long canoe trip in northern michigan in a few weeks. Will the filter cartridge still be good seeing it hasn’t been used in about two years? Thanks
Hi Brian, If you stored your filter in a saline solution, you should not have any difficulty. If your filter has dried out, you may need to to replace it.
Does the "straw" require a constant suck or can you pour into mouth?
You would need to use the mouthpiece like a straw to draw water up and through the filter. You cannot pour water into your mouth with this system.
Are these airport security approved? Can these be taken on a flight?
Our bottles have been around the world and served customers on many a trip. The bottles can be used on airplanes and for travelling. Please keep in mind that due to the tight seal on the bottles, that pressure changes during flight can cause the water in the bottle to come out of the mouthpiece when opened during your flight. To counter this, you will open the full lid once at altitude to equalize pressure before drinking. Once this is done, you are good to go.
Can the bottle be used without the filter as well? Can I use boiling water in the bottle (without filter)?
You can use the bottle without the filter installed. This is a good option for when you want to drink something hot or a drink mix. You should never use boiling water with the filter installed - the heat could damage the filter membrane - but it is OK to put boiling water in it without the filter in it.
Does this filtration system remove heavy metals? Lead mercury etc
Thank you for the question. The activated carbon filter in the Go Series bottles are effective at removing chlorine, asbestos, and chemical matter. It does not, however, remove heavy metals. This capability can be found in our Home Pitchers and Dispenser.
Does the 1L fit into standard car cup holders? What is the circumference?
Thank you for your question! The 1 liter bottle is likely too large for most cup holders. The circumference is 7.7" / 196 mm and the width or diameter is 3.6" / 92 mm.
Is this product also intended for backpacking/hiking/camping use from wilderness area streams and lakes?
You can use the Go Series for backcountry use. You would be able to pull water from fresh water, natural sources. We do have a line of products - the Peak Series - which is more directly designed for hiking, backpacking, and camping. These are generally more compact and come with a backwashing syringe to clean the filters while in the field to maintain good filtration rates.
What are the diameter measurements for the opening on both sizes? I want it wide, easy to clean.
The top for the Go Series bottles is 2". This is the same across all sizes of the bottle.
What pore size is the filter?
The pore size on the microfilter for the Go Series is 0.2 microns.
