Reviews

Needs a Few Design Tweaks

"It’s a really good product that eliminates the need for bottled water. I wish it had more ergonomic features, like being smaller at the base to fit better in cup holders, a locking mechanism to prevent the cap from twisting off over time, and a water bottle sling or a full silicone cover to prevent dents and paint chipping."

LifeStraw 1 L

"I am quite satisfied with this water bottle. It works as expected, feels high quality, and is easy to use and clean. The water tastes great from it as well. Will recommend"

Jordan R. (5/5)

Great water bottle!

"Love this and the fact it’s filtered! It’s a good size bottle and fits in cup holders well. But three things I’m not the biggest fan of: since the filter is so large, it’s less than 24oz since you can’t drink anything after it’s lower than the bottom of the filter. Second thing is the cap and handle. I love that you can take the nozzle you drink from off for cleaning but if you’re holding the bottle from the handle, it loosens and has actually detached while I was holding it. It would be so much better if the lid was separate from the handle! Third thing is the water pressure. I have the lid closed while it sits overnight and in the morning, most times when I take off the lid water comes spewing out and I have to drink it fast to prevent it from spilling everywhere. Maybe make a lid with a small hole for the pressure to be released while it’s sitting out? But overall I love this and use it at the gym and anytime I travel!"

Solid on the go bottle

"Solid water bottle that fits in my car cup holder. Due to the size of the filter displacing the water there is less water in the bottle than I initially thought. I will probably eventually get a bigger lifestraw bottle."

So perfect HAD to repurchase (got mine stolen LOL)

"Love the durability (and have dropped it pretty often, with only a dent and a few scratches as evidence), and the handle made it easy to carry around. I'm trying to reduce my PFA and microplastic consumption, since I saw on the news that "forever chemicals" can be found in our waterways here in Canada, and using a lifestraw product to filter my water gives me a bit of peace of mind in that sense. Unfortunately I lost mine recently at the dog park, and have had no luck getting it back. After 3 months of using glass bottles, I eventually caved and am now repurchasing (yay!). Mostly for convenience sake as being crunchy is both a privilege and a whole lotta work. LOVE MY LIFESTRAW WATERBOTTLE THO!!! 😭💗‼️"

Feng Y. (5/5)

It works!

"I bought the Go Series bottles for myself and two of my teenage children to use during a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. I was honestly afraid to trust it at first, but when bottled water ran short, I filled my bottle in a bathroom sink and had to trust it to do its job. I used it 4 more days from various taps without any issues. We drink a lot of water, so it was a lifesaver to be able to have accessible clean water no matter where we were."

Renee S. (5/5)

Perfectly imperfect

"As someone who is a student always I would be remised if I did not offer some opportunity for improvement. That being said, I would like to provide my thought on improving the lid of this product. It could be made out of metal instead of plastic. And the lid for the mouth piece could also be improved to be something like the flip top covers that some other companies use. Other then that. This bottle is amazing. I am currently drinking out of it as I am writing this review. Thank you and I look forward to some type of lid / cap improvement in the future!! DRINK ON!"

Future Use

"Hi! I bought the LifeStraw Go Series Stainless Steel water bottle for an upcoming trip. After having stomach problems on a previous trip, I decided I did not want to worry about stomach problems again. I love the look and weight of this water bottle. Looking forward to my upcoming vacation with No stomach issues!!"

Great Water Bottle

"Worked great on my last trip. No need to purchase water bottles and the filtration makes the water taste great! Great size for me, not too heavy or bulky."

Q&A

Carbon filter won't unscrew from membrane?
Thank you for reaching out. We're sorry that there is an issue with the filter. Please reach out to us at info@lifestraw.com so we may help you.
Can a 10 year old use the go life straw safely
Yes! A 10-year-old can safely use the LifeStraw Go bottle, as long as they can sip water through a straw and follow basic usage instructions. The filter inside the bottle works through suction, so they’ll need to sip steadily to draw water through the membrane. Here are a few tips for younger users: Supervision for first-time use – It may take a little practice to sip properly. It is helpful to let them know that it is like sipping a milkshake at first. Avoid using with anything other than water – Juice, soda, or milk can clog the filter. Regular cleaning – Be sure to rinse the bottle and mouthpiece after use. If they are comfortable drinking from a straw and understand how to use the bottle, they should have no issues!
How often I have to change the filter?
The Go Series utilizes a two-stage filtration system consisting of a microfilter membrane and an activated carbon filter. • The membrane microfilter lasts up to 1,000 gallons (4,000 L) and will stop allowing water to flow through once it’s reached the end of its lifetime. • The activated carbon filter lasts up to 26 gallons (100 L) of water with proper use and maintenance. We recommend replacing this when you notice a change in smell or taste of your water or every 60 or so days with regular use.
Can I put ice in life straw bottle?
Yes, You can put ice in your LifeStraw Bottle. We do not recommend freezing your bottle or filter.
Can these be used to filter pond or stream water and make it safe to drink?
Yes! The Go Series will work with fresh water sources to protect you from pathogens including bacteria, protozoa, and parasites. You can check out the performance summary here: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2631/0778/files/Go_Series_Performance_Data_Sheet.pdf?v=1681403259
i am going to travel in Thailand for 4 weeks, how do i clean the bottle and cap, i cannot really take a dishwasher with me....and staying in hostels i dont have acces to hot water to clean
Great question. Cleaning your bottle on the go can be a challenge but is essential to keeping it in good condition and keeping you safe. While traveling, you can remove the the filter body and wash the bottle and lid with soap and water. You don't need hot water for this, but we do recommend using a disinfecting soap if possible. Best practice would be to remove all the parts, wash, and allow to dry before reassembling your bottle. On the move, you can also wipe down the bottle, lid and mouthpiece with a disinfecting wipe or even unscented hand sanitizer.
Can the water from the life straw go replace distilled water for use in nasal rinses or CPAP machines when traveling to Mexico
Our systems do not remove minerals and dissolved salts from water, so they are not the same as distilled water. We recommend using distilled water in your CPAP machine per manufacturer directions.
If I accidentally wait too long to change the carbon filter, will extra contaminants leak into the water I am drinking? Or will the carbon filter just stop being affective?
What will happen if you do not change out the carbon filter is its effectiveness will eventually wane and offer less protection from the contaminants it filters out. You may experience changes in the taste of the water since the carbon filter does a lot of lifting to improve and neutralize taste issues with water.
Can I pour filtered water from this container to a backpack bladder or do I have to drink from this container?
The filtering action on the Go Series is done by drawing water up through the filter like a straw. You would not be able to easily or quickly fill bladder or other vessel with this product. I would recommend something like the Peak Series Collapsible bottles that are designed to either drink directly from or to fill another container, bottle, or hydration reservoir.
How long do the 22 oz plastic bottles keep water cold ( with or without ice)?
Thank you for the inquiry. The plastic Go Series bottles are not insulated, so they do not keep water cold at a rate anymore than a regular glass or cup. If you want to keep your water chilled, it would be best to look at the Stainless Steel bottles. These are double-wall, vacuum sealed bottles and will keep water chilled for many hours.
