Backcountry water bottle

"Perfect option, super light and packable, for backcountry trips."

Travis M. (5/5)

Great bottle for backpacking

"Love this bottle, now my primary drinking water bottle for backpacking. I use this and leave my "cooking water" alone as I move."

Michael N. (5/5)

Good to Go

"Taking a long flight for vacation. Eager to show off my Lifestraw products."

Deborah L. (5/5)

Bought as a gift

"I can't review this specific purchase as I'm gifting it. I have one, however, which prompted my giving this. I've only used mine a few times, so far, but it is very useful when needed. I've used a LifeStraw Go bottle for years. Its only negative has been that you can't pour water out of it. This item solves that, and takes very little space in a bag. I can not address long term durability, yet I recommend this item for travelers, hikers, campers. . . ."

Piece of mind

"I worry about drink water in a foreign country. But using the filter gives me a piece of mind."

Helena L. (5/5)

Practical, Space-Saving, and Peace of Mind

"I purchased the LifeStraw 1L Collapsible Bottles for myself and my son for an upcoming trip to Peru this March, and also bought an extra one as a gift for my son’s friend who will be traveling with us. This brand came highly recommended by a close, trustworthy friend, which gave me a lot of confidence in choosing LifeStraw for international travel. While we haven’t used them in the field yet, my first impressions are excellent. Shipping was quick, and the packaging was sturdy and well thought out. The bottles feel durable and well-made, especially for something so lightweight and compact. I really appreciate how versatile the design is—you can use it as a bottle, squeeze water into other containers, drink directly like a straw, or even remove the filter and use it for storage. That flexibility is exactly what we were looking for when space and weight matter. The filtration capabilities are also reassuring, especially for travel. Knowing it protects against bacteria, parasites, microplastics, and sediment, and that the filter lasts up to 2,000 liters, makes this feel like a smart, long-term investment. Based on the quality, design, and recommendations I received, I fully expect these bottles to exceed my expectations once we’re on the road. So far, I’m very happy with the purchase and would absolutely recommend LifeStraw to anyone planning travel or outdoor adventures where safe drinking water is a priority."

Q&A

How frequently does filter need to be replaced?
The Membrane Microfilter lasts up to 2,000 L | 500 gallons – water will stop flowing through once the filter has reached the end of its lifetime. Proper care and maintenance will also help extend the life of your filter.
I cannot find the LifeStraw Peak Carbon Capsule attachment for the peak series. Where can I find this attachment?
You can find it here https://lifestraw.com/products/lifestraw-peak-series-membrane-microfilter-replacement?variant=41901343801455. We are currently out of stock and are awaiting replenishment. You may choose to click on the button Notify me when back in stock to receive notification.
When we ask what material the bottle is made of, “premium materials” in no way answers that question. Please provide the actual name of the material, e.g., TPU, TPU coated nylon, silicone, etc.
The Peak Collapsible Squeeze materials are: Cap and housing: Tritan renew/ PP (polypropylene)/ silicone. The Squeeze bottle is made of TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethane).
This comes with the membrane filter correct? And should I or do I need to purchase the carbon filter on top of this to add to it?
The Peak Collapsible bottles come with the membrane microfilter. The carbon filter is an attachment accessory that can be added. For the Peak Collapsible bottles, you can thread the carbon attachment to the cap of the bottle or to the filter if you have the membrane microfilter on the outside of the bottle.
How heavy is the LifeStraw Peak Series Collapsible Squeeze 650 Ml Bottle With Filter when empty
The Peak Collapsible 650 ml weighs 3.5 oz or 100 grams when empty.
How can I check if filter membrane was compromised?
The only way to test if a filter has been compromised is to use a water test to determine if microbiological contaminants have gotten through. You cannot observe or inspect with your eye to see if there is damage to the membrane or pores that would allow bacteria or other microscopic pathogens through. If you believe there is a concern the filter has been compromised, you should err on the side of safety and replace it.
What is the thread size on the bag?
The Peak Series uses a 28mm PCO standard for the filter connection. For reference, this is the same as many plastic bottles for water, soda, etc.
are there replacement filters for the smaller collapsible filter bottle? or do you have to buy a whole new bottle when the filter needs replacement?
Yes, you can purchase a replacement filter body for the Peak Series. https://lifestraw.com/products/lifestraw-peak-series-membrane-microfilter-replacement This filter is compatible for not just the collapsible bottle but for all our Peak Series products.
is the filter only one way for the peak series filter? I assume that the input is always the bottom. but does it work both ways?
That is correct: water flows only in one direction with the input at the bottom of the filter body. The only time water would flow in the opposite direction would be during backwashing to flush out trapped contaminants and/or air bubbles in the filter.
Should i have to backwash the filter everytime I use it even with just tap water? I have only used it a total of about two weeks with tap water in a foreign country and consistently having to backwash
You shouldn't have to backflush at every use if you are filtering just tap water. There may be some reasons why you are getting blockage and we suggest the following fixes: If the bag has a lot of air in it, it can make it harder to draw water or squeeze out. You should "burp" the bottle by loosening the top and gently squeeze to force the air out. If you have reduced the amount of air in the bottle, blow back through it strongly to flush out any air trapped in the filter. This can help with bubbles trapped in the filter. The inlet for water on the Peak Membrane is only at the bottom of the membrane. Sometimes, water does not get in touch with this area and it can seem as if it doesn't want to draw water through. We recommend changing the angle you drink to ensure you are getting good contact with the water. If the filter is being troublesome when you are squeezing water through it, I recommend you first try to draw a little water by drinking directly from the tap. You may have to do one of the above - I find a little blow-back to be helpful - to get the water going. Then you should be good to squeeze.
