“5” Star Product
"Learned of your product through a friend while on vacation. As soon as I returned home I purchased everything thing from the pitcher to a years replacement of filters. One of the most amazing products I own. It produces crisp and crystal clear results. The water even tastes better! I make my morning coffee, my ice cubes, and my drinking water everyday with this amazing product. I recommend it to everyone!!!"

Great company, clean water, simple beautiful product
"I can't say enough great things about Lifestraw. The pitcher looks so pretty on our counter, it's easy to use and clean, and ordering the carbon filters and membrane filter in a value pack makes it simple to stay on top of everything. And of course, the water tastes amazing."

Lifestraw lifechanger
"Excellent filter . Previously used a faucet mounted filter but our water tasted terrible. If you let it sit a few hours it tasted of chlorinated pool water. Changed to Lifestraw and wow! Tastes like spring water or bottled water ( from a glass bottle - no plasticky taste!). A bit slow to filter so I bought a second one to keep up with warm weather water demands. Not sure why one filters much faster but still tastes good . plus I love that we also help others with our purchases to obtain clean drinking water ."

Nothing like fresh water!
"I have really loved my LifeStraw water jug. I’m now on my second filter and am still feel good about my purchase. I have also bought two water bottles and enjoyed them too-great for traveling when you never know what you might be drinking!"
— Alice Y. (5/5)
Excellent products
"We use our filter constantly. While our city’s water is relatively safe, it feels like a stellar idea during these times of safe water protections eroding, to take extra steps to ensure clean water."
— Lorie M. (5/5)
Better than Brita
"The taste of the water and build quality are superior to the PÅ«r and Brita filters we had before. The other brands would often not fit right or come loose, or have different filtering speeds from filter to filter. The LifeStraw has been consistent, with a solid fit, and quick filter speed. The only thing to make it better is find something other than plastic for its construction. I was drawn to the glass pitcher in an effort to reduce microplastics, but it’s a step in the right direction."

— David j. (5/5)
Love Lifestraw!
"Best filters ever, love the life straw pitcher. It is great to filter out a lot of bad things including mycobacteria. Very few filters can filter out mycobacteria, so this is great And the lifestraw is great for everybody, including great for Boy Scouts making it safe to drink water from creeks!"

A Product I Can Trust
"The only affordable way to get drinking water safe from chemical and biological contaminants."

Q&A
I have the 7 cup pitcher...how often should I replace the filter and should i replace the carbon filter and the membrane?
Thanks for getting in touch with us! To keep your LifeStraw Home pitcher or dispenser performing at its best, it's important to replace the filters regularly. Here's a quick overview: Filter Lifespan & Replacement Guidelines: Activated Carbon + Ion Exchange Filter Lasts up to 40 gallons / 150 liters (about every 2 months) Replace when you notice a change in taste Membrane Microfilter Lasts up to 264 gallons / 1,000 liters (about once per year) Replace when water flow slows or stops. We hope this helps answer your question.
just bought a 10cup non glass pitcher what do i need to order for replacement filters etc.
Thank you for reaching out — we’re happy to help! Your LifeStraw Home pitcher or dispenser uses two filters, each with a different purpose and replacement schedule: 1. Membrane Microfilter Replace once per year, or sooner if water flow slows or stops. It physically blocks contaminants, and filtration will stop once it’s full. 2. Activated Carbon + Ion Exchange Filter Replace every 60 days for maximum performance. It reduces chemicals, heavy metals, and improves taste and odor. Over time, it becomes less effective as it absorbs impurities. ð You do not need to change both filters at the same time. Each can be replaced individually based on usage- but we recommend changing the carbon when you replace the membrane filter each year. We provide some short videos on our LifeStraw YouTube channel on how to change filters if you are interested. https://youtu.be/M4CeWEMG29Q?si=YiIizsKz8IYlXzb5 You can go to LifeStraw.com to reorder both the membrane filter and carbon ion exchange filter for home. https://lifestraw.com/products/lifestraw-home-replacement-filters?variant=20718446772335 Tip: And if you're storing your pitcher on the counter, we recommend keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from heat, as warm conditions can encourage mold growth over time. Let us know if you have any other questions—we’re always here to help.
What is that yellow stuff on the filter? Thanks
Hi, The yellow material is a medical-grade epoxy resin. During production, this resin is used to pot (or “seal in”) the hollow fiber membranes at the ends of the filter. Its job is to hold the thousands of fibers firmly in place, preventing them from shifting or leaking around the edges. The resin is fully cured during manufacturing, so it’s stable, non-toxic, and safe for contact with drinking water.
Hi, why do we have to run one filtered batch and discard after changing the filter? Thank you
Great question. We recommend running and discarding one batch of filtered water after changing the filter to help flush out any loose carbon dust or manufacturing residues. This ensures the water tastes clean and the filter performs at its best from the start. Let us know if you have any other questions, we’re happy to help.
Are the filters made of plastic? If yes, do they add microplastics back to the water while it sits in the glass pitcher?
Thank you for reaching out. This is a common and important question—especially with increasing concerns about plastics and water safety. Here’s some information to help clarify: Material Safety & Selection Our engineers and R&D teams carefully select materials that balance safety, durability, and longevity. All components that come in contact with water, including our pitcher, dispenser, and housing materials, are made from SMMA, which is BPA-free and chosen specifically because it does not leach harmful chemicals into the water. Over time, we’ve updated materials in response to emerging data and evolving safety standards. Rigorous Testing Standards LifeStraw products undergo testing in accredited laboratories and are further verified by independent, third-party labs. This gives us confidence that the materials used are safe and not leaching harmful substances. In addition, our products meet or exceed the standards set by the U.S. FDA, EU regulations, NSF, and California Prop 65 for materials used in drinking water applications. Plastics & Product Design Using plastic remains a complex challenge. While we are actively exploring sustainable alternatives, some materials—like those used in our membrane filters—currently don’t have viable replacements without compromising function, durability, or user experience. We know this is a concern for many customers, and we’re committed to continuing innovation in this area. We appreciate your thoughtful question and your interest in safer water solutions. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you'd like more information—we're always here to help.
how to store membrane after sanitizing it. I won't be using it immediately
Hi, To properly store your membrane microfilter- Please follow the steps below: 1. Discard Water Empty any remaining water from the pitcher or dispenser. 2. Remove Carbon Filter Take out the carbon filter and let it air-dry for 30 minutes. If storing for longer than two months, we recommend disposing of the used filter and replacing it with a new one when you're ready to use the system again. If storing short-term, place the dry filter in a sealed, reusable container and store in a cool, dry place. 3. Remove Membrane Filter Remove the membrane microfilter and rinse it under clean water. 4. Clean the Pitcher/Dispenser Wash the pitcher body and filter housing with soap and water. Let dry completely before storing. 5. Disinfect the Membrane Filter Mix ¼ teaspoon (1.25 ml) of household bleach with 2 cups (473 ml) of clean water. Place the membrane filter in this solution for 10 minutes. Remove and rinse thoroughly under clean water for 1 minute. 6. Soak in Salt Solution Mix 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of salt in 2 cups (473 ml) of clean water until fully dissolved. Immerse the membrane microfilter in this saline solution. Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry place with the filter fully submerged. 7. Store Separately Keep the membrane filter in the saline solution. Store the dry carbon filter in a separate, sealed container. 8. Resume Use When you're ready to use the system again: Remove the membrane filter from the salt solution and rinse under clean water. Reassemble the pitcher or dispenser with the filters. Run two batches of water through the system and discard the first batch, as it may taste salty. If stored longer than two months, use a new carbon filter. Are the filters recyclable
Hi, The plastic components can be recycled according to your local recycling guidelines.â Due to potential contamination, used filter media should be disposed of in regular waste.
Are the replacement filters the same size for both pitchers? I want to make sure i get the correct size.
2. When you replace the larger filter for the 10 cup pitcher, how do you prep the new filter? Also, I seen that you should clean the filters if it is setting out of a refrigerator. How do you do that?
Thanks for reaching out. Regular cleaning helps your LifeStraw Home pitcher or dispenser work properly and prevents mold, algae, and buildup. Below are the recommended steps for both routine and deep cleaning. Regular Cleaning (Every 1–2 Weeks) Remove both the membrane and carbon filters. Rinse them with clean water (do not use soap). Wash the housing, lid, container, and silicone seals with warm, soapy water. Do not wash the filters with soap. Reassemble the product and reinstall the filters. Fill with water, then discard the first batch. Deep Cleaning (Every Few Months or If Mold Is Present) Discard any remaining water. Disassemble all components. Set the carbon filter aside — it should only be rinsed with clean water. Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) of bleach with 2 cups (473 ml) of warm water. Soak all internal parts (except the carbon filter) in the bleach solution for 10 minutes. Pour the bleach solution through the tap to clean internal pathways. Use a small brush to scrub around the tap as needed. Rinse all parts thoroughly. Scrub non-filter parts with soap and water. Rinse the membrane filter with clean water only (no soap). Reassemble and resume use. Storage Tip If storing your product long-term, place the membrane filter in a saltwater solution (1 teaspoon salt to 0.5L water) in a sealed bag or container. This helps prevent mold and keeps the filter moist to avoid clogging.
