"Beautiful glass picture which holds a significant amount of water or a family of five with lots of pets so it makes it nice to be able to fill water bowls and refill for us. It does feel a little bit slow, but this is only the end of our first week using it and based on the directions, it will take a little little before the water flows real quicker.. flavor of our water is so much better and there is no smell coming out of the picture which is not the case coming out of the faucet thank you life straw for delivering such a beautiful and helpful product!"

Pure Heaven!
"I’ve literally tossed other big-name filtering pitchers because of their ridiculously poor engineering and hopelessly ineffective filters, but this LifeStraw 7-cup glass filter is an absolute dream. The water tastes so clean and pure and fresh, and the glass pitcher makes it wonderfully crisp and cold. I couldn’t ask for more. So glad I found LifeStraw!"
Quality Glass Water Pitcher/filter
"This is a high-quality glass water pitcher. The filters are enclosed so you don't see them at all. The one negative is that the filtering process is a tad slow; slower than most water filter pitchers. However, the majority don't filter out microplastics, so I can deal with that. It takes up less space in my fridge than my previous pitcher (different company), but still holds quite a bit of water. This was a good investment as I needed to get a new pitcher with filter. Highly recommend."
Clean design ~ Clean water
"OK. I’m on a well with super good water quality and quantity, so why did I feel the need for the LifeStraw filter pitcher? I’m not an “optimizer”. I’m not a hypochondriac. I like the taste of my well water. . . but I needed incentive to stay properly hydrated and this cool looking pitcher sits nicely on my countertop and beckons me to enjoy a glass of water…frequently throughout the day!"
Love the glass.
"Really like the glass pitcher instead of the plastic pitcher,( even if the filter is housed in plastic). I got this to take on vacation to the beach so that I wouldn’t have to drink the water there which doesn’t taste good, and so that I would not have to drink from plastic bottles. I consume a lot of water, so I like it to be as clean as possible. I wish I could put the whole 7 cups in at once instead of 2 cups at a time, but still, it worked great, and I would recommend it to anyone."
I feel more confident in my drinking water now!
"Having recently moved, my water source is now rainwater collected from the roof and gutters. After doing more research, I became more aware of just how many things could be contaminating my drinking water. My research led me to LifeStraw feeling like a safe and affordable option for my water filtration. I am happy I made the switch to this new water pitcher!"
Satisfied, but wish I could have gotten the pretty aqua blue.
"Sorry it took me so long to open the box and assemble it! I have a lot of health issues. So far, I like it. Hubby is still using the Britta though, as this holds so little in comparison. He hates the slow filling but I cannot lift it into the fridge so he has to do that. Water tastes great. My daughters each had one so I am glad they told me about this. Just wish I had more than a couple choices for color."
Love it, wish it was bigger
"Had a Lifestraw dispenser but didn’t like how the water dribbles out from the nozzle nor how slow the flow of water is. Purchased this 7-cup pitcher and don’t regret it. Even though the capacity is smaller, I don’t regret it because pouring out water is faster now. Plus I don’t have to worry about cleaning a nozzle."
Recommendation. . .
"We love the taste of the water your unit produces. Overall very pleased with it. When the unit is full I sometimes have difficulty Filling a glass. It feels like I have very little control of the pitcher. Perhaps a wider handle would help and maybe a little lower on the body closer to its center of gravity when full. Overall it's a fine product! Well done. . . . . ."
Life Straw, 10 cup
"I can’t tell you how much better I feel knowing that microplastics aren’t invading my body and brain! It’s so easy to use, and looks so stylish out on my counter. I fill it every morning, and it only takes a short few minutes to filter."
Q&A
- Does the life straw home filter Filtered water pass water through a small filter made to trap tiny germs with an absolute pore size of 1 micron or smaller.?
- Yes! The LifeStraw Home 7-Cup Glass Pitcher uses a membrane microfilter with an absolute pore size of 0.2 microns, which is much smaller than 1 micron. As water passes through the membrane, its microscopic pores physically block contaminants such as bacteria, parasites, microplastics, dirt, and turbidity.
- The filter housing appears to be made of plastic. If this is true why don't microplastics leach into the water in the Lifestraw glass pitcher?
- Hello, The pitchers and housing are made of durable plastic materials that should not break down with normal use or time, and should not contribute to microplastic particulate in your water. All materials are also BPA-free and approved and verified for water contact. We also try to ensure we are responsible at manufacturing stages to limit waste when and where possible. Our LifeStraw membrane microfilters are made of Polysulfone, a high-performance thermoplastic that's tough and safe. It maintains its strength even in high temperatures, ensuring safe and reliable filtration. Thus, our product itself won't introduce microplastics into your water through regular usage at the normal temperature condition. The LifeStraw membrane microfilter is specifically designed to remove microplastic particles from drinking water. Through rigorous testing, we've confirmed that our filters exceeded the reduction requirement of NSF 401 standard. The high rate of reduction efficacy shows that our LS Home product do not add microplastics to the filtered water, and confirms our product itself won't introduce microplastics into your water through regular usage. You can find more information on our webpage under our blog post on microplastics.
- Hello, Does the 7 cup glass pitcher hold 7 cups of water in addition to the volume taken up by the filtering system or is that the total volume of the pitcher itself? Thanks, Diane
- Hello, Yes, the 7 cup holds this amount inside the carafe. The water within the housing is additional.
- How do you buy a replacement for the membrane?
- Hello, Thank you for your question. You can purchase Home replacement membrane filters at LifeStraw.com under replacement filters. There are 4 options under the Home Replacement filter. Choose Replacement Membrane Filter. I hope this helps!
- Why do I bubbles in my Lifestraw filtered water?
- Thank you for your question. Bubbles in filtered water are normal and are typically caused by dissolved air being released during filtration. As water passes through the membrane and carbon filter, pressure changes can cause naturally dissolved gases to form small air bubbles. Hello and thank you for your question. These bubbles are harmless and do not indicate a problem with the filter. You may notice them more with cold water, freshly installed filters, or after priming and cleaning.
- How much water does this yield How long does it take to complete filtration
- Hello, The LifeStraw Home 7 Cup Glass Pitcher holds up to 7 cups of filtered water, which equals about 56 ounces or 1.65 liters per full cycle. Once the filter is fully primed and broken in, it typically takes about 20 to 25 minutes to filter a full reservoir. Initial cycles may run slower as the membrane and carbon filter become fully saturated. Flow rate improves after the first few uses. For best performance, fill the top reservoir and allow it to filter completely before refilling.
- Does it remove fluoride? Also how are microplastics not being put back in water with plastic filter sitting in the water? Thank you
- Hi and thank you for your question. The LifeStraw filter does not remove fluoride from the water. In regards to your microplastic question. Microplastics are defined as plastic particulate from 5 millimeters (mm) to 1 nanometer (nm) in size. They can be intentionally made for specific uses, like microbeads in cosmetics, or from when larger plastic items break down due to weathering, material breakage, or mechanical forces. Additionally, microplastics can originate from synthetic fibers shedding off textiles during washing and use. The pitchers and housing are made of durable plastic materials that should not break down with normal use or time, and should not contribute to microplastic particulate in your water. All materials are also BPA-free and approved and verified for water contact. We also try to ensure we are responsible at manufacturing stages to limit waste when and where possible. Our LifeStraw membrane microfilters are made of Polysulfone, a high-performance thermoplastic that's tough and safe. - How often do I clean the 7 cup glass pitcher, do I need to also sanitize the filter and if so what is the recommendation?
- Hi, Thanks for your question. We recommend doing a pitcher and lid cleaning approximately once a week. Wash the glass pitcher and lid with warm water and mild dish soap. Rinse thoroughly. The glass pitcher is dishwasher safe. The lid should be hand washed only. Allow all parts to fully air dry before reassembling. We recommend doing a deep cleaning every 1 to 2 months: Discard any remaining water. Disassemble all components. Set the carbon filter aside — it should only be rinsed with clean water. Prepare a cleaning solution by mixing 1/4 teaspoon (1.25 ml) of bleach with 2 cups (473 ml) of warm water. Soak all internal parts (except the carbon filter) in the bleach solution for 10 minutes. Pour the bleach solution through the tap to clean internal pathways. Use a small brush to scrub around the tap as needed. Rinse all parts thoroughly. Scrub non-filter parts with soap and water. Rinse the membrane filter with clean water only (no soap). Reassemble and resume use.
- Does it filter out TCE?
- Hi, Thank you for the question. TCE (trichloroethylene) is a chemical solvent sometimes found in contaminated water. LifeStraw filters remove bacteria, parasites, microplastics, and many chemicals, but TCE isn’t one we specifically test or certify for. Products with activated carbon, like the Home Pitcher or Go Series, can help reduce some chemical compounds, though not necessarily TCE completely.
- How well does this work with well water? Can you get the full stated gallon amount on a filter? We have found other brands to get reduced life due to the minerals or other things blocking the flow rate in the filter.
- Well water often contains high levels of minerals (hardness), iron, sediment, or organic matter, which can shorten filter life or slow filtration flow for any filter. LifeStraw Home 7‑Cup (membrane + carbon/ion-exchange) offers dual filtration and can last up to 264 gallons on municipal water for the membrane; 40 gallons (2 months) for the carbon/ion filter. Some tips to extend the life of the filter are to clean the membrane filter and pitcher regularly, and to consider pre-treatment methods such as a water softener.
