Great product

"I travel to many countries where it is not advisable to drink the local tap water. Usually there is bottled water available but not always. I was recently in Cebu Philippines during a major typhoon that crippled the city. Bottled water was sold out in hours. My 22oz Lifestraw bottle kept 3 of us alive for a week. I always travel with it but until now, while I always use it, I feel like I never really needed it till last week."

New Filter for LifeStraw Bottle is a success!

"I have had my LifeStraw bottle since 2022. I use it mostly for travel abroad - so it isn’t used daily. It had been harder and harder to suck water through the straw so I figured I should replace the filter (not really knowing how many hours of use it had sustained). I will say, trying to figure out which filter goes with which bottle was tough! But I must have purchased the correct one because WOW what a difference! I now can use my bottle again with ease. I love this bottle and feel very safe when drinking water in foreign lands!"

straw filter

"I was looking for a replacement straw. No one in town had one. I was reluctant to go on line. The decription was very clear. I got the right one, first try!! Very well done on your end."

Randall L. (5/5)

I like what the product

"I like what the product does in filtering but surprised on the amount of suction it takes Not like a regular straw by any means."

Q&A

I am trying to replace a filter in an older Go water bottle. There are no threads to screw the filter in. It looks like it snaps in. What model do I buy?
Thank you for reaching out and your question about which parts to buy for your bottle. The Go bottles were redesigned for 2023, and the lid was updated. This includes the size of the cap, the mouthpiece, and the interface with the filter body and the bottle's lid. Here is the link to the filter you are looking for! https://lifestraw.com/products/lifestraw-2-stage-replacement-filter I hope this helps!
I purchased a Go water bottle 4 years ago and used it a little bit, but have not used it since. Should I replace the membrane filter before using it again, or is just replacing the carbon filter part enough?
Hi, Unless you have followed the long term storage instructions, we would recommend replacing the membrane filter for optimal filtration.
Can this filter be used on a LifeStraw Go water bottle I purchased in about 2016? The bottle has the flip up mouthpiece and looks like the one in picture but the old filter doesn't have that notch out at rim?
Thank you for the question. Given the age of the bottle, you may have a first gen bottle with a 1-stage filter. This particular filter will not fit in your system as the interface is slightly different to accommodate the inclusion of a carbon filter capsule. In addition to the replacement filter, you would need a new lid that is compatible with your bottle: https://lifestraw.com/products/lifestraw-go-spare-parts
How long dies the dry unused cartridge last prior to use? Ie want to use as emergency backup.
Great question! LifeStraw products do not have an expiration date or shelf life. If they are unused and/or still in packaging, you will store them as-is, in a cool, dry place. When you are ready to use them, you would follow the steps in the manual for priming and set up. Once used, you will want to follow the long-term storage directions to ensure it is ready for your next use. Copies of manuals and product guides can be found on our site if needed.
How do you replace the carbon filter for this particular filter. I cannot see how to replace this particular filter. Why doesn't your Lifestraw manual provide the filter part number?
Hi Jo, The carbon is replaced on the old Go bottle replacement filter by popping out of the top of the filter (sometimes you have to pry it with your fingernail). The easiest way to show this is a video on our YouTube channel that you can access here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vReMFoDh2RU
How long before having to change the filter?
The Two-Stage Microfilter is good for up to 1,000 gallons or 4,000 liters of water. This can vary by water quality and proper care and maintenance. Please see the Go Bottle product page for resources and user manual for more information regarding directions on cleaning, storage, and care.
Hi, how long does a filter tend to last for the bottle product?
Hi Frank! The filter in the GO bottle lasts for 4000 liters of water and will clog when you need to replace it. The smaller carbon capsule filter needs to be changed every two months.
Hi, I m using a lifestraw go but its the old model, I have it for 6 years. Is it possible to used the lifestraw go 2 filters for my old LIFESTRAW Go? Thanks a lot
Hi there! The filter we sell now would not be compatible with your older model.
Can water be decanted fromthe "life straw go" to fill multiple containers or must the 'life straw' be sucked on to get water flow from canister? And if water can't be decanted from this unit is there one that you fill mulitple containers? Just thinking I may have to fill up while at a water source that may not be available for a while. Thank-you
Hey Dave! The Go bottle works by pulling water through so it cannot be used to fill other containers.
Hi. I’ve had my water bottle for four months now, using once or twice a week only one the days when I work. There is a black substance growing on the inner membranes that looks like mold, but I haven’t come close to the 1000 gallons it’s supposed to last. I’ve let it thoroughly dry between uses. I don’t want to buy another $25 filter if it’s just going to grow mold again. Any suggestions? Thanks!!
