Reviews

EXCELLENT!!

"NO MORE BOTTLED WATER FOR ME! … It’s soo fresh tasting! And it feels good to know that I’m in some way giving back to other communities. GREAT WORK LIFESTRAW! Just made a new purchase recently! ^u^* Short Story: Upon using my Home Lifestraw 10-Cup Pitcher for the first time, I couldn’t believe the difference it made between my rather “poisonous-tasting" toxic faucet water and the filtered water in the dispenser! I couldn’t believe it all came from the same TAP water!!! Wow… NIGHT & DAY difference! Unbelievable! THANK YOU LIFESTRAW! Can't wait to see what more you do in the future!!"

"I've had a LifeStraw pitcher for 3 years now and just got a second one so I can keep one in the refrigerator and use the other for watering my indoor ferns. The design is top notch. Very easy to fill and pour, and the water really does taste better to the point that I like drinking it (have never been much of a water drinker due to tap water flavor). The terrazzo is a fun, cheerful touch."

7 Cup Glass Pitcher

"This is a great pitcher. I was looking for glass instead of plastic and a great filtration system and I found it. The filtration can take a little longer than other systems, but once you get use to it and realize that, you adjust accordingly. I also appreciate their customer service. Very helpful."

Brenda B. (5/5)

Fabulous!

"This is a game changer. After walking through the set up, we ‘taste tested’ the water compared to tap and the filtered from our fridge. You could definitely taste the difference! The pitcher, to my surprise, is a bit heavy, especially when full of water, so that’s the only ‘issue’ as I get used to that when pouring water."

Rachel S. (5/5)

Great Investment

"Bought this to add to our travel trailer on top of the filter at the hose connection. Way more inexpensive than buying some elaborate system to filter water for the trailer on top of that water taste was fantastic and wife being picky about the water in the trailer pipe not being sanitary even she loved it. Can’t say how much I would highly recommend this pitcher."

Mitchell L. (5/5)

Great option for glass dispenser

"Our household is looking to eliminate as much plastic as possible and this dispenser has been a great option for swapping out an item we all use several times a day. I agree with other reviews that the filter is a bit slower than other dispensers out there. But it’s nothing significant and we see this as a small inconvenience in exchange for peace of mind that we are putting healthier water and less microplastics into our bodies. Would recommend this product!"

Hannah S. (5/5)

Almost perfect

"We recently started replacing everything plastic in our kitchen to reduce microplastic consumption. This was the only glass water filter pitcher on the market that filters out more contaminants than the Brita, however I am disappointed that the filter housing in the middle is still made of plastic. They got it so close, then ruined that part. Please make metal filter housings!"

Ashley B. (4/5)

The top opening to refill

"The top opening to refill is bad design, have to take top off to refill The pitcher is too tall."

Charles L. (3/5)

Easy to clean and manage

"I bought this filter pitcher to replace one from a different brand that I’ve had for years. Their filtering was excellent but the pitcher was awful—too big, too heavy, unergonomic and hard to clean. The LifeStraw pitcher was so thoughtfully designed; you don’t have to remove the top to fill it, it’s easy to clean, it’s a manageable size and weight for smaller hands, and it’s attractive, too. The water tastes great; what more could you ask for?"

Rachel R. (5/5)

love it

"I purchased this to replace a Brita because I was trying to eliminate plastic in my home. It's well made and the water tastes so much better. I was a little worried about the glass handle and the weight of the cup but no problem, it's good a sturdy. I've already lrecommended it to friends."

Q&A

Does this filter our fluoride?
The LifeStraw Home Pitcher is designed to remove contaminants such as bacteria, parasites, microplastics, heavy metals (including lead), PFAS, chlorine, and more. However, it does not remove fluoride, as our focus is on reducing harmful contaminants while retaining essential minerals.
Can I refill pitcher as I use water or do I need to wait until pitcher is empty to refill?
You can refill the LifeStraw Home Pitcher as you use water; you do not need to wait until it is empty. The filtration system works continuously, so adding water while there is still some in the pitcher will not impact its performance.
Where is life straw manufactured?
LifeStraw products are designed in Switzerland and manufactured outside the U.S., primarily in China and South Korea.
HOW DO I REPLACE THE FILTER? I’M STUMPEDE
Hi, I'm happy to help you with your question! I have sent you a separate file to your email you provided to help you remove your filter. Thank you!
To what extent does this filter out nickel?
Hi Sara, We take any statements of capabilities in our filters very seriously, so our performance data sheets and lab reports only include those items that we know are removed with results that meet specific standards and are verified. So, there are many contaminants that are not listed either because (1) we haven't tested for them yet; (2) our filters do not remove them; or, (3) our filters reduce somewhat but not enough to meet a safe water standard. Theoretically, activated carbon + ion exchange filters like those in our Pitchers and Dispensers can remove and reduce a wide variety of contaminants but due to composition, time in contact with water, or size of the filter they may not remove nor reduce some elements. This would be the case for nickel. As of now, we do not have test results for nickel removal. It would be safe to say that if you are looking for removal of a specific element or compound and do not see it on our list, then we would not make a claim to our product's efficacy in removing or reducing it. Here is our current data sheet for the 10 cup LifeStraw Pitcher. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2631/0778/files/Performance_Data_Sheet_Dispenser.pdf?v=1657301021 I hope this helps answer your question.
My friend is under a “boil water” for drinking. Does life straw mean you don’t have to do that? She lives in Asheville.
Hi, Thank you for your question and I hope that your friend is doing ok. Boiling water kills bacteria, viruses, and parasites by exposing water to high heat. It’s effective against most pathogens. Boiling does not remove chemicals, heavy metals, or sediments from the water. The taste of water may also be affected. LifeStraw filters out bacteria, parasites, microplastics, and some chemicals depending on the model. It does not remove viruses unless combined with other methods or if using our purifier (Community, Family, Mission or Peak Series Gravity). If there are viral concerns, it would be recommended to boil the water or use a purifier.
Does it remove E Coli?
Hi, Yes, the LifeStraw Home pitcher is designed to remove bacteria, including E. coli. It uses an advanced filtration system that includes a membrane microfilter, which is capable of filtering out bacteria, parasites, and microplastics. This makes it effective against harmful bacteria like E. coli, providing clean, safe drinking water. Each of our products have a DATA sheet available that shows what lab tests show to remove. I have provided the link to our Home Pitcher here for you. chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2631/0778/files/Performance_Data_Sheet_Dispenser.pdf?v=1657301021
I alone use the filter for drinking water only. After how many months should the filter be replaced? Your information talks about volume but I don’t really keep track of that. Months I could.
Hi, We recommend changing the microfilter once a year and the charcoal filter every other month.
Does the water ever come in contact with silicone?
Hi, The rubber gasket around the pitcher housing is made of silicone, and it does come into contact with the water. The silicone gasket helps ensure a proper seal, preventing leaks between the filter housing and the pitcher.
I bought the 10. Cup plastic pitcher but it only makes about 2 cups
Thank you for reaching out! The LifeStraw 10-Cup Plastic Pitcher holds a total of 10 cups of filtered water when full, but the design involves a two-step filtration process. Here’s how it works: Upper Reservoir: When you pour water into the pitcher, the water first enters the upper reservoir, which holds a smaller amount (approximately 2 cups) of unfiltered water at a time. Filtration Process: This unfiltered water gradually moves through the filtration system. As the water filters, it passes into the main compartment, where the filtered water is stored. Filtered Water Capacity: The lower section of the pitcher holds up to 10 cups of filtered water once the filtration process is complete. If you're finding that only a small amount of water is filtering through at a time, it may be because the pitcher filters water in batches. As you refill the top portion, the filter works to gradually fill the bottom portion with clean, filtered water, up to the full 10-cup capacity. To fill it fully, you may need to top off the pitcher as the water filters through. Let me know if you have any other questions!
