Amazing and Portable!

"We took this on our honeymoon trip where we had an 8 mile hike each way. Due to elevation, we underestimated how much water we would need and ran out! We were able to find a stream, pull this out of the pack and had two full water bottles of clean mountain water in minutes. This works amazing in an emergency and is fast. 10/10 would recommend. We’ve brought this on every trip since and gotten the home filter as well. Got a great pic of my husband filtering the water too lol."

Great for my emergency kit i

"I am saving it for an emergency (camping days behind me); but I like the thoughtful structure, the quality, and the instructions. I made sure to know how to use it. Peace of mind as an addition to my emergency supplies."

Kevin E. (5/5)

Reliable, convenient, light, and compact

"Super product for backcountry expeditions. The 3L size is perfect for any adventure. Follow the product maintenance steps and you will have a long lasting filter. The weight/pack size to water capacity ratio is perfect for 1 or 2 people on the trail. Gravity filters are by far the best experience in water gathering and use. This is my standard."

for my go bag

"although I have not used your quality of work, mission statement and work around the world are enough to trust your products. I wanted something with versatility for multiple uses. I felt the was the best option. Thank you!!!"

Great option for filtering water when travelling

"I rely on Lifestraw products around home and when I travel because of their effectiveness in filtering out even the smallest bacteria. This filter system is also really compact for packing so it’s a very helpful addition to Lifestraw options. I should also mention that the first one I bought had a terrible chemical smell but I was easily able to return it for a new one that has no odours, as it should be. Thanks to the very helpful customer service team."

Staple of the quiver

"I received this product for free as part of a promotion. There are a ton of things I love about this filter and very few I don't. The biggest pro in my book is the modularity of each piece. The filter itself is very small and can fit into your pocket if you want to go fast and light. On longer trail runs, I'll just bring the filter and a foot long section of tubing to drink from. The filter screws onto plastic bottles (Smartwater, etc.) but beware it doesn't let air back in (more on this later). For longer backpacking trips, the bag, tube, cleaning syringe, and stopping mechanism that come with the product are excellent. The plastic stopper likely won't hold up to durable use but seems like a neat product (stops, locks, and adjusts flow as you please). I unfortunately received the product later than expected and could not take it into the backcountry but tested it on some of the most difficult water possible: the Southern New Jersey coast. For the uninitiated, it tastes like it's approximately 11% seawater. After several rounds of double blind tastes tests, every single person picked the water filtered by the lifestraw over conventional filters (I think we used a Brita?). High marks in the front country. I tested it a few times while running trail and I didn't get any waterborne illnesses (so far) so it seems to work well in that regard as well. The only constructive feedback I have is threefold: 1. It's not the lightest option. This is really, *really* nitpicky because it works so dang well but it could be a few ounces lighter. That being said, I still plan to bring this along for any trip that I expect to filter water because the whole system is so intuitive. 2. It's very difficult to draw air back through the filter. That means that if it's used on a plastic water bottle, it'll create suction that can only be relieved by opening the lid slightly to let air in. Not really a big deal but sort of annoying to keep it easy to drink. 3. There's not a great way to store everything together. The top strap is great but gets in the way when I wrap the filter, cleaning syringe, and tube like a burrito in the bag. Again, very nit-picky but it would be nice to have that as an option. Overall, it's an excellent product from an ethical company at a decent price point."

Works great!

"This thing is pretty cool I really liked it on our camping trip in the dispensers nice it’s just a little bit flimsy to me but other than that it’s a great thing to have while camping."

Hmummert (4/5)

For everyone

"This system works well, is easy to use and hang & very portable. It’s the type of item everyone should have in a survival kit, but also in case of home emergencies/natural disasters."

Kleevee (4/5)

Sturdy and reliable

"I like how sturdy the filter system is. You could definitely tell that it was made with quality materials. Can’t wait to put it to more use!"

Jimiltri (5/5)

Compact but can hold lots of water!

"Compact but can hold lots of water! I love how easy it can hang on anything and it’s compact enough to throw into your backpack while hiking or camping."

Q&A

If it is stored, and not used regularly, will the bladder crack and become dried out?
Great question. The LifeStraw 3L Gravity System bladder itself will not crack or dry out simply from being stored. The bladder is made from durable TPU, which is designed to tolerate periods of non use without becoming brittle or cracking under normal storage conditions. Storing it clean, dry on the outside, and out of direct heat or sunlight is sufficient.
My 3L LifeStraw gravity filter came with 2 plungers (one flat on the bottom and the other with a 'nipple') which do I use to back wash and what is the other one for then? Also is there a manual showing how to use these plungers?
Hello, Thank you for your question. The Peak Gravity 3L should come with one Peak syringe. The other plunger may have mistakenly be included. We have a video you can view on our YouTube channel or website that shows you how to use it. https://help.lifestraw.com/article/249-lifestraw-peak-gravity-water-filter-systems-product-guide. Thank you!
It got down to -1 deg C overnight and I forgot to bring in my 3L gravity filter. Is it finished?
Hi, The recommended temperature suggestions for our products are:   33 degrees Fahrenheit/1 degree Celsius  140 degrees Fahrenheit/60 degree Celsius   Note that if any LifeStraw has water in it and is stored in freezing conditions, the creation of ice within the membrane can damage the filter by expanding the pores with the expansion of the ice.  This would render it unusable, and you would need to replace it. We recommend keeping LifeStraw products, specifically the membrane filters, close to your body when hiking or traveling in freezing temperatures to ensure any water or vapor inside the filter does not freeze. For long-term storage, store these somewhere at room temperature.
Hey Lifestraw! I just purchased the Gravity Peak 3L filter and I was curious on how to store it short-term? I read the instructions on how to store it long-term, but I’m just looking on how to store it for two weeks until my next backpacking trip. Thanks for the awesome product, cheers!
Hi Cat! Congrats on the your new Gravity Peak 3L! We have some great videos available on YouTube about the maintenance and care of many of our products, including the Gravity Peak 3L. Check them out! https://youtu.be/_YcIXDzVFIY?si=_ctchxxHmqChZedc
How to store a LIFESTRAW PEAK SERIES GRAVITY FILTER SYSTEM if not been used for a while?
Thank you for the question about storage for your system. We recommend reviewing the long-term storage documents at lifestraw.com for more information: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2631/0778/files/LifeStraw_Peak_Series_3L_Gravity_Water_Filter_System_Daily_Use_and_Storage.pdf?v=1660149719
Can I turn the filter to the inside of the 3l gravity system? I want to use it in a backpack with the hose.
You can mount the filter on the inside of the 3 liter bag. The filter will screw into the bottom of the cap. However, you cannot run the hose this way. The connector nozzle on the filter body is covered by the lid's seal and to connect the hose, you would run into issues with routing and securing a reliable connection.
Do you sell a replacement for the "Custom Backwash" plunger/syringe?
Hi Danny! This is not sold currently but if one is needed, please email us at info@lifestraw.com for support.
Can this system be used with the Flex system filter which filters chemicals as well? It looks like The Peak system filters only bacteria and parasites, not heavy metals and chemicals.
Hello Ri! The Peak is not compatible with the Flex system or other components.
Do you have a Nalgene or HydroFlask connector for this gravity filter?
Hi Karen! We would not sell Nalgene or Hydro Flask connectors/products.
How fast does this filter water?
Hi Michael! The flow rate for the Peak 3L bag is 1.7L per minute.
