"This product seemed cool but was absolutely terrible. It was broken on arrival and when I tried to contact the company, they gave me the runaround for several different. Emails gave me links that didn’t work and eventually stopped helping me completely. Now I have a broken cooler essentially that I paid over $200 for this company is trash. I will never buy from them again and I will never recommend it to anybody. There are plenty other companies that can filter water and create good products. This company is not one of them and they don’t care about their customers at all clearly."

"We use our for camping. Our first outing we filters around 60 gals, the seance one we did about 15. The water tastes great, the filter is easy to use. We do use a hose extension (yes it might void the warrantee, but it's a necessity in my opinion. The hard part is finding replacement filters. For our large groups, this has been an amazing purchase, and I'd recommend it to anyone for emergency or camping!"

"I had been eying this for a while so I was happy when it went on sale. There are other water Purifiers out there but they are way more expensive and less durable. This is solid construction and user friendly. It has handles on it which is great. . . others dont. I feel like this purifier can hold up under tough conditions outdoors. Im glad to own one. Q&A

I see that this can last years for a family of 4 but it also says "Activated carbon + ion exchange filter lasts 600L (about 2 months)". So do you have to have this piece replaced every two months to ensure healthy drinking water?
Thanks for reaching out! The LifeStraw Escape includes three separate filters with different lifespans: The membrane ultrafilter provides protection against bacteria, parasites, and viruses, and lasts up to 18,000 liters — which is where the "years for a family of 4" estimate comes from. The pre-filter- filters out larger sediment and should be changed when changing out the membrane ultrafilter (comes with). The activated carbon + ion exchange filter, however, targets chemicals, heavy metals, chlorine, and taste/odor issues. This filter has a shorter lifespan of approximately 600 liters, or about 2 months of regular use, and does need to be replaced on that schedule to maintain full performance and ensure safe, great-tasting water. So yes — for ongoing protection from chemical contaminants and to ensure the best water quality, we recommend replacing the carbon filter every two months. Thank you!
