Rated 5 out of 5 by from Turned this indoor cat on to the outdoors! Let's just say I'm not an outdoorsy person. But I was invited on a long hike with VERY outdoorsy pals who all happen to own - and love - their own LifeStraws, so I got one for myself too. I watched them drink from a stream that I was initially not thrilled about but they assured me they've used these LifeStraws many times over the past couple years with only great results. So I followed suit, and used the product to drink with the comfort of knowing this is a trusted product. I was shocked to find the water tasted great and clean - and very normal! Happy to have a product that has helped me be more comfortable in the wilderness.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Received with a HOLE in the pouch. POOR QUALITY!! I am really disappointed with my $40 purchase of the Flex filter. Upon first cleaning before use I discovered the pouch to be leaking (stream of water shooting out) from the seam at the bottom. Why trust the filter if the bag leaks? this is just poor quality control. Will see how the replacement policy goes, but that's now 3 weeks of time lost for using this in summer camping season. I am just thankful I read the instructions and found the problem BEFORE relying on the water filter in the back country! This could have been disastrous. GET. IT. TOGETHER. LIFESTRAW. Swiss products are junk, see German neighbors for industrial design tips.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Space saving, great for travel. I have used this water bottle for travel and it worked amazingly well. It takes up almost no room other than the volume of the water inside and weighs next to nothing so is a great option for having in your purse while sight seeing. Additionally, this water bottle does not leak at all! The only con I can think of is that drinking from the bottle takes a bit more skill than other water bottles but I got the hang of it pretty quickly with only a few dribbles (no big deal and was mostly user error). The filter is very easy to remove for times when you aren’t worried about water quality. The is product is great, highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Life saver when water is not readily available. I must admit I was skeptical of the results I would get from this product. When I received I immediately put the filter into some filthy dish water that had been soaking all afternoon. I only took a tiny drink and was ready to spit it out. The water tasted just as good as the bottle of water I had drank just a couple of hours ago! This will remain in my car in case of emergency. I plan to buy two more to keep at home for emergencies as well. I received this as a free sample as a promise to write a honest review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply Amazing I have owned a previous lifestraw for my hurricane preparedness kit for a few years. It is really an amazing product. It affords the user to consume water safely from virtually any water source. This new product gives the user much more flexibility in usage as you can now have clean drinking water with you on the go no matter the situation. The compact structure of this product makes it ideal for any backpacker/camper/hiker. You cannot underestimate the value of such a product in emergency situations either.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job Lightweight, easy to prime the filter, definitely helped improve taste of water (tap water with high chlorine content), it has found a place in my edc gear and hiking gear. The cap is a bit odd and leaks/dribbles if pressure is applied to the bottle, fixed that by adding a bit of hydration hose and a bite valve. Its impossible to get all the water out of the bottle through the filter but you can get at least 90% of it. Helps to squeeze the bottle while drinking, otherwise the effort to drink will leave you parched. Make sure the lid is on well before squeezing the bottle or it will leak everywhere. Does the job of filtering water.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product, Excellent H2O! This product is great. Before buying this product I had to carry a few water bottles at a time when hiking or camping, and water can be heavy. I'd much rather carry a small amount and have this with me wherever I go. It saves so much space and weight on my hikes. The water isn't nasty after it is filtered, it is very fresh and tastes about the same as bottled water. I would definitely grab one of these if you plan to hike even a few times a year, or go camping. It's saved me so much hassles on the few trips I've used it on already.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super filter flexibility Using a LifeStraw filter for some time now, this iteration is pretty handy. Kind of like a cross between the Sawyer squeeze, and the original LifeStraw "straw". The flex is actually more configurable than either- especially considering the collapsible bottle, and the option to gravity filter using soft pouches. For someone who has no use for hard water containers, this is indispensable. LifeStraw also seems to purport to filtering more of the nasties like heavy metals and pesticides than other filters, and maybe it's just psychological, but I swear water tastes better from this filter than any of my other filters...

Can this straw be used safely without the carbon fibre capsule/with an expired carbon fibre capsule? I know it will no longer work for chlorine/lead but wondering if the microfilter will still work for bacteria. Thanks!

Asked by: Tahlia
If you decide to use this product without the carbon capsule, the filter would still remove bacteria, microplastics and parasites. But you will lose the protection for chlorine, pesticides and heavy metals.

Can I detach a filter from a cap in LifeStraw Flex and use it as a bottle only? If no, can I replace the original cap with any from LifeStraw Universal for that purpose?

Asked by: Andrzej
The Flex can be used as a bottle or a personal straw. If you want to use the bottle without the filter, please keep in mind you will lose the protection.

Can you stand this bottle upright or is it a flat bottle?

Asked by: Mellie
You cannot stand it upright; I guess you could say it is a flat bottle. I did not use mine, so I cannot judge whether it worked or not.

I have a lifestraw bottle (solid) which I use in mountain, but I want to buy a flex one to use in village fountains. I would like to know, if the filtre has some specifications for covid-19. Thank you!

Asked by: fmro
This bottle does not remove viruses. Our purifiers remove viruses and these are the Mission, Family, and Community.
